The Event

2014 sees our second annual TEDx event here at UoN. On Sunday 6th April at the Business School South, we’ll be inviting 12 speakers and 3 performers to share their ideas with our 400 person audience. The day will be packed with great ideas, food, activities, workshops, interactive experiments, film, music, dance and creativity. Check out our social media channels to keep tabs on our plans!

The Community

TEDx events are all about community and bringing together people from a huge range of backgrounds and experiences. Our international and diverse team are keen to engage local schools and charities in the event and we are working closely with students at Nottingham Trent to create a series of spin-off salons in the run up to Sunday 6th April.

The Legacy

Our event is just the starting point to the TEDx ethos. From there we’ll look at hosting more regular meetups, TEDx Salon events and Actions. We’ll also engage with the wider TEDx community by participating in TEDx Live events and other collaborative efforts, and keep building our society which has grown rapidly in its first year of affiliation with the University.

Our Speakers

We will be inviting 12 speakers to speak for 12 minutes each and 3 performances throughout the day as well.

Over the coming weeks we will share ideas for each person throughout our social media and give sneak snippets of what they are planning to share with the audience.

The Tickets

Our ticketing has now opened!

You can purchase tickets for TEDxUoN through our ticketing page or via the button below.

The Venue

Our fantastic venue for this year’s event is the Business School South on Jubilee Campus. It’s been the home of several great conferences in the past, but nothing quite like TEDxUoN 2014.

It’s easily accessible by public transport, with ample free parking for anyone travelling via car.

The Team

We’re always looking to build our team. We’re a very grassroots society and anyone with enthusiasm and passion for sharing ideas is always welcome!

Head over to our facebook group to check out the latest events, or send us a message if you want to get involved in creating this year’s or future events.

About

About TEDx

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED- like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x=independently organized TED event.

The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.

About TED

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 25 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. The annual TED Conference invites the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes. Their talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Al Gore, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Isabel Allende and UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown. The annual TED Conference takes place in Long Beach, California, with simulcast in Palm Springs; TEDGlobal is held each year in Edinburgh, UK.

TED’s media initiatives include TED.com, where new TEDTalks are posted daily, and the Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as the ability for any TEDTalk to be translated by volunteers worldwide. TED has established the annual TED Prize, where exceptional individuals with a wish to change the world are given the opportunity to put their wishes into action; TEDx, which offers individuals or groups a way to organize local, independent TED-like events around the world; and the TEDFellows program, helping world-changing innovators from around the globe to become part of the TED community and, with its help, amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.

To TEDxLaceMarket we go…

Author: arvinda, Posted On: November 20th, 2012, In: Our Thoughts

After a great media meet with the TEDxLM team yesterday I got to thinking, “where else does family apply?”  The guys did a pretty good job explaining how they’ll be looking at the theme both within the event and local community, but is that theme also reflected in the very nature of what TEDx has become? When you think of a seed what do you see?
A small spec lost in the crowd,
tossed, trampled, sowed and ploughed.
Or can you see what we see?
The first steps in a great journey Continue Reading
